Just like parents who prevent young people
from being together, those who do not allow
open exchange of love and ideas between
people hold the world back from the ideal
expressed by visionaries like Martin Luther
King, John Lennon and Michael Jackson.

Together

She could not sleep.
He could not sleep.
They would not let them, but,
they wanted to be… together.

When will they learn?
That we all yearn,
for the same things,
the whole world over.

Black, red, yellow or white,
we are together in the fight.
There is no them or us.
only problems when we fuss.

A dream that all the little children,
ebony and ivory side-by-side,
imagine all the people,
living life in peace and pride.

No countries and no boundaries,
no ideologies to die for.
No religions restricting us.
freedom, but no greed anymore.

She could not sleep.
He could not sleep.
Until they were together.

There is no power,
on this green earth,
that can keep them apart.

Opening up our hearts to them,
is the only way to start.

I truly love this write. I work with all children and there isn't one of them that is prejudice of any race or religion. Adults teach prejudice. I love children and only wish that all people could be as honest and loving as they are.

I find your verses particularly meaningful at this time, Ron; they remind me of John Lennon's song, "Imagine." Love and peace to you,

True this sound of John Lennon & MLK, but Michael Jackson I disagree with...the only humans he wanted together were children & together with him, no one else...-e-

Lovely poem Ron. Our church is like this. We have blacks, yellow, white and many from different backgrounds in unison giving praise to our Creator. It was not easy to find such a church. Most are pretty much segregated even today. I feel that is what is going to be like in heaven. Thank you Ron for this dream poem full of hope that will one day be a reality. Amen

How true and yes, profound that "we all yearn for the same things," a line I wish I had written but you brat me to the punch. Yes, you cannot keep apart, those who truly want to be together. Nice work.

You penned a powerful message. I wish the world and especially the war mongers could read it. I grew up in the fifties too and they spent a lot of time at a useless effort. It also caused a race into the unknown when we got a chance. Thank God my parents trusted themselves and me and I had sense enough to know that trust was of value.

I very much understand where you are coming from Ron! Everyone passionately wants, and deserves love. I grew up in the fifties and society, as a whole, kept the sexes apart. But, like you said, Ron, "There is no power, on this green earth, that can keep them apart."

Unfortunately, the readers who will connect with this are void of the hate and vitriolic solipsism slowly but surely suffocating the species into a labyrinth of self-destruction. Fortunate are we who can read this and know there is no choice for the untainted. Nicely penned.

Yes, greed is the key word, Ron. We all can do our part!
I like your beginning verses...

A poem with a powerful message in need of heeding these days. All of us are in "it" together regardless of ethnicity or ideology.

Transcendental Sojourn-Arrival to One Journal by Liz Cosline

Explains the realizations that have given the author the views of living life fully. The life each person dreams about. You must take a look at yourself before dreams can be reached. Deciding what is the core of belief.
