The magic of meeting a new love on the dance floor for the very first time.

Hit the Floor

Hit the floor and dance,
hit the floor for romance,
go on, take a chance,
get out there and dance.

Go while the music is smooth,
get yourself into that groove,
show her how you can move,
what have you got to lose?

Let the night take you slow,
dancing both to and fro,
let your hair down and go,
relax and go with the flow.

While time rolls round,
soak up the cool sound,
let the magic beat pound,
to a new heartbeat found.

Until the last dance plays,
and the last lyric is sung,
Will she be by your side,
at the peek of morning sun?

THIS IS A WONDERFUL SHARING, RONALD. YOU COULDN'T SPEAK OF IT SO FINELY AND WITH SUCH GREAT IMAGERY IF YOU HADN'T EXPERIENCED IT. IT BROUGHT BACK MEMORIES FOR ME AND REMINDED ME OF THAT OLD SONG, 'SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME'. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

When the music is right and the stamina is there, you can dance all night with the morning sun and the moon as your companion and love as your testimonial bliss, all that's missing is the kiss, Lovely sentiments. Have a wonderful day dear poet friend.

Oh, Ron! With all those hot and heavy moves, she'll probably be doing the "horizontal bop" to bring that sun right up! I love this!!

Love ya!

Even Nietzsche said he could believe in a god if the god danced. Great capture of that exquisite feeling of letting go.

Oh boy, have I ever been there. I have been married three times and two of those wives I first met on the dance floor. Gotta love it. Yesssss!!

I love this for its thrust and energy. And then the last two sentences--the big question. Oh, I hope she will! Nice, Ronald.

Upbeat and...if I may use a somewhat archaic term here...spritely! Unfortunately, although my wife loves to dance, I've never counted that as being among my social assets. Previous attempts to dance have resulted in long-time friends describing my movements as being somewhere between those of a grand mal seizure afflictee and a zombiesque Ed Sullivan. I say all of this fully aware of the fact that dancing is an important human pre-coital mating/courtship ritual. In fact even wolves 'dance' (ask any Lupine behaviorist). Hence I must be a sad fluke of nature...perhaps one of those pathetic 1%ers who don't ride motorcycles. Ah well, in every other way I'm absolutely perfect (ask my split personality 'other'). Thanks for this light amusement, Ron.

Hey, I can get into this. The poem has all the rhythm and rhyme to make the reader want to get up a dance. Perhaps just the thing to cure an ill.

You've rendered a somewhat lost art of romance a sincere and nostalgic rendering with these few words. We need to spend more time with good feelings... our country's stuckedness not withstanding. Thanks for posting.
