'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned' is an idiom that is adapted from a line in William Congreve's play, The Mourning Bride (1697).

Seven Year Itch

Have you ever had an itch,

that you couldn't scratch?

One that was as annoying,

as sleeping on a bed of thatch?

That tickle like a feather,

that magically disappears,

thinking it might be a ghost,

because it always reappears?

That rash like a gash,

that rips you to shreds.

Putting all your nerves on edge,

and evil thoughts in our heads?

How about the pesky mosquito,

that hovers over your bod.

Giving you the dreaded itchies,

without even drawing any blood?

When you itch to meander,

escape about seven years in,

and the bitch, turned witch,

sues you mightily for your sin?

WELL...'THROUGH CHRIST WE CAN DO A-L-L THINGS'. SO, WE DO WHAT WE KNOW WE HAVE TO DO AND 'PRESS ON' IN THE STRENGTH OF GOD. BUT SOMETIMES WE GET BOGGED DOWN BECAUSE THAT OLD CLICHE KEEPS POPPING UP AND SCARING US '...I KNOW WHAT I GOT BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M GOING TO GET...'. ONE CAN GO ON LIKE THAT FOR ANOTHER SEVEN YEARS OF ITCHING...OR...YOU CAN 'SCRATCH THAT ITCH' (AND YOU KNOW HOW GOOD IT FEELS TO SCRATCH A REAL BAD ITCH!) AND GET RID OF IT. ENJOYED IMMENSELY, THANKS. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Of course, that didn't really happen to any of us (ha!), but there is always temptation as you've pointed out in your poem. I remember the movie too, which was very mild compared to today's movies. It was originally a stage play, which, if I recall correctly, I saw in New York, but, unfortunately, not with Marilyn.

when the bitch turns witch its time to scratch her out of your equation dear Ronald, a very witty write indeed, thank you

Ahhh!!! Some bitches didn't even wait 'til the seventh year to be a witch. Bitch like Amber Heard only lasts 15 months of the marriage and during the 15 months course of the marriage, she constructed fake evidence, staged fake scenes, and told lies to destroy Johnny Depp whom she claimed didn't want to leave her anything in his will. So she fabricated the whole thing to try to get a fruitful divorce, but it backfired on her. Now, she is in for a whole lot of trouble. Perjury can land her 14 years in jail.

Nice poem, Ron! I like the humor in this!

Oh no, the bitch turned witch. A serious situation in a lighthearted poem. Enjoyed, Ron.

Ha! I wish my first had only lasted 7 years! It would have been so much easier. Funny poem. Reminds me of Roseanne Cash.
