My muse is my spirit, nothing more or greater.

My Spirit

My spirit is my driving force,

an essential part of my mind.

My memory stores not trivia,

but mental processes to find.

All the essential information,

that keeps me vibrant and alive.

And doesn't clog my brain,

with memorization so blind.

Processing all my thoughts,

into action to be taken.

Resting occasionally to,

let thoughts no longer awaken.

And then, determined,

start thinking once again.

To accomplish a goal,

perhaps, flesh out a dream.

Always trying to clarify reality,

rather than the supposedly, unseen.

My spirit is always positive,

and tries not to be unkind.

I do not ponder ethereal questions,

their far out reasoning not of mind.

My spirit comes from no other source,

than what is within my reasonable find.

I do not follow shooting stars,

their light always fizzles out.

My spirit is the light of my life,

extinguished when I die.

Why I am living this life to its fullest,

in case you are wondering, Why?

SO VERY TOUCHING. YOU ARE WRITING FROM THE INNER DEPTHS OF YOUR HEART AND SHARING THOSE FEELINGS WITH US. Some have the ability to reach out and touch someone. This poem says it all and more! Can I make a copy to sharewith others? MARY Grace

A fascinating and provocative poem, Ron!

My favorite lines:

My spirit is always positive,
and tries not to be unkind.
I do not ponder ethereal questions,
their far out reasoning not of mind.

Those four lines really get to me because that's how I view my own spirit.

So glad you shared this with us.

Their are many interpretations of what spirit is…and means,
and you have defined clearly what yours means to you…
You say your spirit is part of your mind…
and you do not ponder ethereal questions…
It would seem that you see your spirit as your driving force,
logical and not wandering into the metaphysical realms…
You also say you do not follow shooting stars as their light always
fizzles out…but then is it possible that you may miss the thrill and energy of
the journey…!
Your interpretation of your spirit was unique..
…and interesting…

WELL, TO BEGIN...FATHER, SON AND SPIRIT ARE ALL ONE GOD, WITH GOD BREATHING HIS SPIRIT INTO, AND GIVING ALL LIVING THINGS LIFE. WITH THAT IN MIND...THE TWELFTH VERSE, IN MY OPINION...IS SO TRUE. FOR, WHO CAN REASONABLY UNDERSTAND 'HIM', WHEREBY HE TELLS US TO 'LIVE BY FAITH'. AND, THE FOURTEENTH VERSE, IN MY OPINION...IS BOTH TRUE & UNTRUE. FOR, 'HE' IS THE LIGHT OF OUR LIVES BUT WILL NEVER DIE. NOW, YOU ALREADY KNOW OUR OPINIONS WILL ALWAYS BE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT IN AS FAR AS THIS SUBJECT IS CONCERNED, AS...'I/ME' MOVED OUT 'HIS' WAY A WHILE AGO(SMILE). I ESPECIALLY LIKED THE LAST LINE OF THE LAST VERSE, WHICH REMINDED ME THAT I HAVE A WORK THAT'S TITLED AND ENDS...WITH THE SAME QUESTION; WHY? GREAT WORK! THANK YOU, RONALD...I ENJOY AND APPRECIATE YOUR CANDIDNESS AS I KNOW YOU DO MINE. THANKS FOR SHARING, MY FRIEND. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS.

A valiant effort, especially for one who professes not to believe in "spirit"-uality. You connect your "spirit" to your mind ("an essential part of my mind) for some reason. Ok. Later you refer to it as "light". Yes, that I like. An interesting poem, Ron, revealing in some ways.

I have no doubt that we all as somewhat or wholly good human beings will, usually in those minutes r hours before sleep comes, will ponder the mistakes made or opportunities missed throughout whatever years have been given us and, as sleep comes, by awakening the thoughts good or bad, happy or sad are most often lost thoughts that come to us in the minutes or hours before being overtaken with sleep when in the morning our spirit awakens moving us forward as best we can.

Everyone has a fundamental choice to make: to live or not to live. If you choose the first, why not give it all you've got? If you choose the second, what's the point of breathing? I don't believe there is any real middle ground. If you're not living you're only existing, waiting to die. How sad to waste time and energy in that way.

Your mind is a force to behold and your spirit soars. Well done, I believe with you impossible is only a word found in a dictionary.

We all possess our own spirits, and like humans, some spirits are stronger than others. You obviously possess a strong spirit. That is why you can live your life to the fullest, which I also often advise others to do.

Life is too short to think about what has happened that we cannot change, and how others are behaving that we cannot control. Live and let live, and know that you are your own priority - the first one to make happy is yourself so you can receive happiness from others.

A well-spoken look into what so many ignore. There is truly such an existence such as the spirit, if in no other terms than an enigmatic force that never sleeps, but is always a companion of worth and respect. Bravo your living life to its fullest with such admiration for the invisible, yet so alive, entity.
