In a fast-paced, turbulent world, it is very important that we seek calm in our lives the best way we can.

Calm

Even after the worst storm,

there comes a time of calm.

When the sun breaks through,

bringing warmth, clear and new.

Life can be taxing this time of year,

with so many obligations bringing fear.

So many worries of things undone,

unexpected troubles on the run.

We need to set aside a time to think,

our place in the sun or a pleasant wink.

Leave for a few moments, din of the day,

let all your cares, just mentally drain away.

Some call it meditation, some call it, Zen,

whatever you call it, you need to get in.

Whenever you're feeling a bit overwhelmed,

a moment of calm and silence is held.

Think of our ancestors and what they went through,

our lives are like heaven compared to what they knew.

So just relax and float downstream for a while,

and turn that sour puss of yours into a smile.

Once during a very bad time that seemed to go on and on, I happened to attend a concert given by a Victor Borge-type pianist. His humor alone was enough to begin breaking me free of the darkness filling me, but when he played the music, he played with the exquisite skill of a concert pianist. It was his Chopin, in particular, that had the ability to lift me and make me feel like a leaf floating and dancing on a breeze. In fact, that was the image that filled my mind when I closed my eyes and allowed myself to just feel the music. It was truly one of the most comforting and healing experiences of my life.

I TOTALLY AGREE. AND, AS YOU KNOW RONALD, GOD WHO 'CALMS' MY TUMULTUOUS SEAS... IS ALL THE WORLD TO ME. I COULD NOT STAND WITHOUT 'HIM'...IT IS 'HE' WHO TAKES ME THROUGH EACH HOUR OF EVERY DAY. PERFECT WORK, ENJOYED, THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE,BLESSINGS AND FAITH...+HIS...INSPIRATIONS.

A fine poem on the subject of the elusive calm that we all seek in love. Indeed the poem itself induces a feeling of calm. Well done.

To think that a tranquil place like this can exist in a burgeoning suburb filled with strip malls and dense developments. Surrounded by constant traffic with most people never stopping at sunset to take in the beauty. A reservoir on low-lying former swampland created to prevent flooding rather than assist wildlife who were evicted for the benefit of money and business.

I think it's time to reverse the urban sprawl and bring the calm back into life.

Challenging often, but sour I left in Hollyweird. Yes, the calm seekers are rare, but for those of us having a history of seeking the calm, it is just habit. Whether I was in a Yoga class, running, cycling, climbing or walking, my friendship with Oming was always available as my catalyst.

Yes, kick back folks, give Taylor Swift a break (she works so hard at making noise, eh?) and let this poem remind you how valuable its message is.
