A few of the places and none of the people with my primary modes of travel as my paralysis became more severe with age over 60 years.

So Few Pictures I Have

Done That

So often it seems,

I've done others' dreams.

Been there, done that,

in a life full to the seams.

Rode the train into Union Station,

like Abe Lincoln used to do.

Viewed his memorial alone at 2 am,

descending Washington Monument, too.

Enjoyed bears three times in the wild,

picked off a flying pheasant with a 22,

caught a musky when I was only 13,

walked beside a bull elk in Alberta, too.

Spent two days in the Cairo Museum,

Dinosaur National Monument hidden gem,

Pagsanjan Falls Japanese in long johns,

El Fuego erupting from the air back then.

Enough Forrest Gump encounters,

with great people from before,

learning they are just like you and I,

striving to know and do more.

Drove Northwest to Prince George, BC,

Southwest all the way to San Felipe, Baja,

Southeast to Miami, Northeast to Hartford,

and everywhere in between much more.

I don't need a bucket list,

having done more than most.

Have toured foreign countries,

with local friends as my host.

I'm content with my memories,

to write of the adventurous lore,

that insatiable desire to know,

seeking, but finding so much more.

A full life is one to be so thankful for. I wish mine could have been as full as yours. Wonderful work, Ron.

Well done, Ron!
It's been a while since I made some comments.
But I can relate to this poem at 75 and still alive!
I am at a point where going "over there" does not matter much.
Sometimes I'd rather stay home where things have a personal touch.
I live in a home that's big and meets all of our needs.
It's like being on vacation with two little cats to feed.
So if I don't travel too much, it's OK with me.
I'm so happy to be home because our home is where I want to be.
Thank you for the inspiration, Ron!

I like this very much, Ron. Clearly, you have not let life "pass you by." I am not one for New Year's resolutions or bucket lists for that matter. 😉 All the best,

Regis (Reg) 🙏🎸🎶🌸🌳🦋🦄🦆🐼🦉☘🌲🌎

More often than not, a purposeful life can be deeply satisfying. There is so much to see and know. If you can keep your curiosity alive, you are blessed. rlc

I've done a lot of traveling myself, had experiences other can only imagine. More than enough to make others envy sometimes. But nothing I've done compares to your adventures. Keep sharing them with those of us who live vicariously through your words!

A fine poem down memory lane. I especially like your ending "seeking, but finding so much more." Yes, isn't that the way it finally worked out, seeking and never know what you may find only to realize in the end what you did find. I especially like and can relate to this one. Great pics as well. Enjoyed them.

Such resilience and zest for living and not just existing is a trait far too many in this society have disowned, opting for wanting wanting wanting, rather than, as you have, learned to visit lifelong memories, and friends from journeys in disparate parts of the world. To anyone paying attention to your expressions, you've lived a noteworthy life, one that continues to strive for new experiences, new revelations from memories, and continuing the compassionate journey that you own. kudos.

You have had quite an existence with much wisdom in exchange as those of us can testify. I cannot believe I'm 60 years old!! And yet I am a later bloomer finally seeing the world. Glad you got to enjoy it all! ~ j
