Poem Artwork

I felt the spirit stir within
and silence fell upon everything
seeing the bronze sculpture stunned me
He sat on a stool slightly bent over
legs crossed, hands clasped in prayer
a vacant pensive stare of sorrow
mouth slightly open lower lip loose
a naked muscular Christ is startling
the sculptor made him look athletic
as if it were a laureate crown instead
of  the crown of thorns He wore
that told the story of His glory
He wore them for us without a fuss
amazing how little we think of it

What beautiful words He wrote on your heart, Eileen.
Thank you for causing all of us to recognize how little we regard Him, considering how magnanimously He loves us..

Profoundly evocative poem and image--two works of spiritual art grappling courageously with the immensity of divinity in action.

Eileen,

It is sad how some remember only at certain times of the year. Loving The Lord is more than a once a year duty. Very inspiring my friend.

This is so moving, Eileen -- was this in a museum? It's just how I would imagine Christ to look! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. It's no wonder you felt so compelled to write about it.
Wonderful.
Love,
CJ

I think artists perceptions of Christ are interesting. The frail way he is depicted by long ago European artists, and the sometime rugged interpertations of today. Jesus was a carpenter, not an accountant, so I would imagine him being sturdy, with all that walking and lifting lol.......
but in reality it does not matter his appearance......
its what he did for us
and I love him for that :)

Christ Jesus changed the world and ressurected it in his sacrifice. Wonderful poem Eileen, I agree too often we do not think of what he did the symbolic way his ressurection took place everything about it holds a symbole of purpose.

I waiver between thinking of Him burdened on the way to calvary and resurrected in all glory. Lovely poem. Victor
