“Poetry, I feel, is a tyrannical discipline. You’ve got to go so far so fast in such a small space; you’ve got to burn away all the peripherals.” --Sylvia Plath
Words and feelings
Crowd my heart,
Fighting for release
Through my hands,
Through my fingers.
Sometimes they emerge
In beautiful forms,
Other times
They escape
As cluttered knots
Of misspent syllables.
The frustrations
Of being a poet:
Small in comparison
To the woes
That beset the world;
Immense
When the pressure to create
Overtax my ability
To express.
I think you speak for all of us. Sometimes there isn't even a thought to which I can attach misspent syllables. Just hate that feeling of frustration, so I read other poems hoping for inspiration.
Well, you are right about those frustrations but you sure didn't have much problem (that shows) with this one. Well done. You speak for us all at some point.
This is a book of free verse poetry that addresses the seven main tests in life and offers some sensible solutions to passing those tests with minimal discomfort.
God bless you. Kathy
