Poem Artwork

Here I go again
Setting my sights
On losing the many extra pounds
I lug around
Like overstuffed baggage
In the bus station of life,
Carrying it
From transfer to transfer
With aching knees and back,
And concious of the stares
Of those who seem to judge me
As too weak
To control my own behavior;
But the truth is
My will is very strong.
Why else would I choose
Chocolate over exercise
Every time,
Knowing I am slowly killing myself
With each and every delicious bite?
Why else would I choose
The momentary deadening
Of years of emotional suffering
Rather than face
What is really eating me?
No, if I am weak,
I am weak with fear,
Fear of reliving the sorrow
That lies just beyond
The next bite.

You reached me, indeed, with your poem. Not having control is so totally misunderstood because we're often controlled by forces beyond our control. In philosophical and scienticif terms, this is called "determinism"

Hi Rebecca, I know the baggage too well. And you're a strong one for saying so. Thank you for sharing this... and stay strong... it's what you think that makes the difference, so they say....

Tell me...those are the feet of a little geisha? LOL
The only thing that matters is to feel well, if you hear too much the "experts" your life will be a miserable one that deprives you of the good things in life, the secret of a healthy life is to enjoy everything in small portions!

Hi Rebecca, loosing weight is one of the most hardest things that anybody can do.It takes a lot of motivation and will power. It really doesn't matter how you look like, you are beautiful to me.Don't let people stares and judgments get to you.I'm big myself and I don't let their stares and judgments affect the way that I live my life. You take care of yourself and be proud of who you are

A never ending struggle, trying to be healthy, trying to conform to society's "ideal," knowing we'll never win - I know. Am carrying the extra baggage, too, lugging it from place to place to place. Tired, Lord, but keep trying to eat healthy ... only way we might be able to lose some of it. I feel your pain, Rebecca, I honestly do.

(((HUGS))) love and prayer, Karla.

Excellent write.
