"Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody,
I think that is a much greater hunger,
a much greater poverty
than the person who has nothing to eat". --Mother Teresa
I sit inside
My poorly heated home
Wrapped in the rags
Of yesteryear's fashions
And watch the twinkling lights
On the house
Across the street.
Another Christmas season
Alone,
Forgotten by kin
Who have no time
To remember
Those too old
And infirm
To dance.
Meals-on-Wheels
Will bring my holiday feast
And a neighbor
Might drop by
To check that I am
Still alive,
But my family...
Where is my family
This holiday season?
I realize after reading this poem that I am so fortunate to have daughters and cousins and family. Noone should spend Christmas or any holiday alone, and that is when I see most of my family members too. on holidays.

Dear Rebecca. I can relate somewhat to your loneliness, but I have my son here now close by. But still being alone can be overwhelming.
GOD BLESS YOU sweet lady.

This rips the heart out, Rebecca - all too painfully true. What the young forget is this: one day they'll grow old and then God help 'em. :( Well penned.
Bishnupriya Ghosh, Professor at University of Santa Barbara contacted me asking to use my painting of Mother Teresa in her upcoming book, "Global Icons" which was published by Duke University Press Books. You may see Judy Jones's painting of Mother T
