What is it,
Exactly,
That I want
Out of life?
It would be
Easy
To simply say
Happiness--
But then
I have to ask,
What
Is happiness?
Is it
A definite thing,
Something
Almost tangible?
Or does it
Ebb and flow
Over the course
Of my days,
Always dynamic
And ever changing?
The truth is
I don't trust my spirits
When they soar
Or turn giddy,
For such highs
In someone bipolar
Can only lead
To disaster.
I think, therefore,
That what I want
Is contentment,
The serenity of knowing
My potential
And my worth,
And being able to find
The quiet joy
In common, everyday
Satisfactions.
