O to find peace

In my lonely spirit!

Where do I acquire

The courage

And the fortitude

Needed to risk

My heart, and

To offer my hand

In simple friendship,

Just one more time,

And one more time

After that,

And once more again,

Continuing on

As I seek to rebuild

My life?

All my life

I have craved

Acceptance

And in my weakness

I have consented to

Whatever relationships

Were offered,

Regardless of whether

They were healthy

Or not.

But this time,

As I start over,

I am resolute

I will no longer

Sell my affections

So cheaply.

Loneliness

Has not killed me

So far,

Surely I can wait

A little while longer

For those whose hearts

Beat in harmony

With mine.
