Poem Artwork

When I was a child
I think I lived
For snowy days
For not only
Was school out
But there was
The utter joy
Of frolicking
In the cold freshness
Of winter.
Snow meant sledding,
Ice skating in my sneakers,
Snowman building,
And, of course,
Snowball fights
With my brothers.
Snow brought out
The purest essences
Of childhood,
Stopping time
So that I could relive it
Years later
As I sit before
A crackling fire,
Remembering,
As I watch
The flakes fall silently
Outside my window,
With a fond smile
Curving my lips.

When you were a kid "Snow" was everything in the winter months...many memories, thanks, Rebecca.

Always,

I don't miss snow all that much. Although I enjoyed all of those things described, I certainly didn't miss the dirty or yellow snow we couldn't eat. Shoveling snow from sidewalks and driveways. I don't miss dangerous roads, slipping on sidewalks and porches, slush, and the mud that came after.

I remember the joy I had as a child frolicking in the snow. Those were fun days to be sure. Eh, these days I hate snow as wholeheartedly as I loved it in days past.

Yes, indeed, snow has a way of resurrecting all those memories of winter past, as you have here so aptly described. Here comes winter. John
