Poem Artwork

Years spent mired
In mud,
Mud at my feet
And mud lobbed at me,
Covering me from
Head to toe;
I stood alone,
Not helpless
But definitely
Out numbered,
Growing ever weary
Of the struggle,
Wishing for someone
To help deflect
What rained
Through the air.
I found myself driven
Until I stood with
My back to some reeds,
And suddenly
You were there!
A strong presence
Behind me,
Coming unexpectedly out
From the grasses,
Your warmth supporting me
Like a sturdy wall
While with your hands
The mud was diverted
And your voice murmured
Soothing, encouraging, loving words
As you drew me back
To safety.

This reads almost like a fairy tale with a happy ending. Well written.

Excellent imagery of the strength of someone in support. May we all have someone to come to the rescue when we are down, and hopefully, not out.

Ron
