“The most important thing is to enjoy your life
—to be happy—
it's all that matters.”
Audrey Hepburn
As I slip
Through the veil
Of sleep
I find myself standing
In a sunny glade,
The skirts of my
White eyelet dress
Stirring gently in
The warm, fragrant
Breeze,
And my bare feet
Luxuriating
In soft grass.
A brook chuckles nearby
As it flows
Over smooth stones,
Along banks framed
With ferns
And every color
Of wildflower,
And its depths dotted
With small fish darting
Amid water flora.
In the trees surrounding me
Birds sing out warnings
To intruders
And enticements
To lure mates,
Accompanied by the buzzing
Of honey bees as they gather
Pollen and nectar.
Taking a deep breath,
I lift my eyes
To the sky
With its cottony clouds
And a hawk circling
On mountain thermals,
Then sigh in contentment
When your arms encircle me
From behind,
Easing me back
Against you
As you brush my neck
With a tender kiss.
I wish my dreams were as vivid and descriptive. However, the poem flows nicely until you purposely added the man of your dreams to your dream when it was so enjoyable with you just being alone in nature.
