I came to you
After years of preparation,
Years of talk therapy
Learning why I felt
The way I did,
And how to deal

What I hadn't done
Was learn how
To confront those experiences

Lost,
Confused,
Hurting,
Alone,
And very, very
Angry.
With your help
I began to push back
Against the one
Who had abused me
And those who had
Enabled him,
Abusing me as well.
With your compassion,
Your expertise,
And gentle humor
You've left me stronger,
Focused in a good way
And ready for
My next chapter.

To separate the victim I was
From the warrior I am,

At first glance, I thought you had (finally) penned a missive to me. But, alas, it was not to be. Still, I checked for rust spots in hard to find places and found quite a few. My older brother went to his grave believing that PhD meant "post hole digger." I did not want to disappoint him, so I never told him anything different. But enough about me. I'm glad the real Dr. Rusty was able to help you along your pathway to enlightenment. He did a good job for a kid of just 74. But I digress. I too have taken note of your writing skills, and they definitely are on the ascendency. I wallow in brevity and simplicity, so you and I are mud buddies--in a manner of speaking or writing. Keep aiming for the stars, and don't look back except to check for a dotted i (or Aye, even Eye).
