The family has gathered
This Christmas Eve:
Grandma and Grandpa,
Brothers, sisters,
Husbands and wives,
Aunts, uncles,
And all the kids,
Along with Tom the cat
And Mischief the dog
Adding to the mayhem.
The tree is alight
With a mountain of gifts
Beneath its boughs,
Festive music plays
From the stereo,
And the dining table is laden,
Groaning beneath a smorgasbord
Of food.
For this one night
There are no hard feelings,
No harsh judgments,
Only laughter
And good cheer
As the family warmly unites
Setting aside their animosity
For a night of peaceful
Truce,
For a few hours remembering
Love.

And it's rare the family that can get together, celebrate and not have any arguments interrupt the tranquility during the time everyone is together.
