Perhaps it's the season
When the veil between
This world and the next
Is thinnest;

Friends and loved ones
Who've gone on before me.
I wonder,
Am I simply ruminating
On those I'll see again?
Or are they truly nearby,
Seeking to comfort me
And once again share with me
Their love and friendship
At a most uncertain time?
Whatever the reason
For their presence,
Whether imaginary or
Astral,
I'm grateful for it
For I know I am not alone
On either side
Of the spiritual divide.
