Light dawns,
Growing ever brighter
With each rising and setting
Of the celestial sun
As it brings us ever closer
To the birth of
God's begotten Son,
The One who will be
The Light of our world,
Who will guide us,
Who will teach us agape,
The purest love,
By setting an example,
As well as teaching us
With His words.
The Light will come first
As a fragile child,
A radiant life beginning
In a lowly manger,
Then later as a man
Dressed in common garb
Who will walk with humanity,
Who will show us The Way,
Who walks with us still,
Who arrived, lived, and died
For us,
Beginning as Light coming down
In the guise of
A human child.
