they thought it strange
and felt it wrong
that you let a woman tag along
they whispered about
the whispers we shared
and about the way you obviously cared
they questioned motives, called me names
but what we had remained the same
i knew the envy that burned within
caused them to call our love a sin
you told me the deep and secret things
they never imagined or knew
for i was completely lost in love
and hopelessly devoted to you
at nightfall you were never alone,
i cradled your weary head
softly sang you psalms of David
as we lay on our hillside bed
when passover came
i saw you suffer and die
and watched your sacred blood flow
with such sorrowful eyes
when the time had fully passed
i was the one you came to at last
by the garden tomb, i saw you there
surrounded in glory beyond compare
your beloved voice called my name
as tenderly as before
and i knew then, even death
could not close love’s door
so let them all say about me
whatever they want or will
for Sweet Lord, i loved you then
and i love you still
I am so pleased you wrote this, Belle. It is so spot on and such an accurate description of the sanctity of both flesh and spirit. I would be pleased if you would like to read my write on the same theme, Paragon of Magdela, which I thought I might get into a lot of trouble over!! But, notwithstanding my intended "provocativeness" of the subject matter, peeps seemed to take a similar point that Jesus never shunned the passion of a woman's heart... though, admittedly, I did push the boundaries in the physicality I described... Sorry to babble... I'm just so pleased that you have written this beautiful poem saying much the same thing... but better! You make the point that it is to Mary that Jesus first appeared, underlining their heart-to-heart intimacy. Mary Magdalene is probably who I can relate to most. Love this for certain sure. K xx
A beautiful poem even if my portrait of Mary Magdalene is diffent from yours. There is something much deeper in her than what is popularly felt. Victor
It unites spiritual wisdom from the East and West to help readers experience Christ consciousness in the here and now. Combining the Oneness teachings of India with a fresh look at the New Testament.
Our culture has taught us to believe in many ideas which aren't actually real. Exposing these illusions allows us to recover the power to live our lives according to our deepest desires.
