on this our cold and cloudy day
there are little children
with nothing to eat
homeless veterans
living on the street
voiceless creatures
abused by mankind
the world it seems
is enveloped in a time
of despair and cruelty
help us turn our eyes to thee
there is hope where there is love
fill us with compassion from above
holy babe who grew to be a man
remind us of the cross
that we may understand
this season of festivity
is only a shadow of what was to be
the shedding of blood, the agony
life from death an epiphany
on your birthday, Savior Divine
give to us a heart like thine
a true heart of eternal love
