‘tis time again to welcome a new year
say so long to the one hanging ‘round here
bring out the party hats and champagne
in a way this old year has been a real pain
but hope springs eternal…. or so they say
let’s hope tomorrow will bring a better day
put on your shiny jewels and your tux
a kiss at midnight to bring some luck
dance all night, sleep late the next day
doomsday predictions can’t stand in the way
of the rowdy hoopla on the eve of a new year
out with the old, don’t even shed a tear
all in all we probably shouldn’t complain
we still can breathe and have half a brain
hoped last year, this year would be good
and bring all the happy things it should
boy were we fooled, this year was a bitch
the poor got poorer, the rich got rich
but be ye thankful for a new start
new opportunities and a beating heart
we had some cheer on Christmas day
some of us had snow in which to play
so welcome a brand new year once again
and pray to God it won’t do us all in

you are a wonder with words. happy new year la belle.
I'm putting on my shiny jewelry and best shoes to dance along beside you while we celebrate the New Year. Let's oust the bums in Washington and elect a better bunch of people to replace them. Many prayers are needed to accomplish this, Belle. I wish you a bright and beautiful New Year along with all of lifes finest blessings.
