No One Prays Here
By La Belle Rouge

no one prays here anymore
not saints, not sinners
nor those who know not
into which category they fall

this is a desolate place
vines of despair twine themselves
between the leaded panes
of broken stained glass windows

sunlight bent and distorted
against bright colored shards
that no longer resemble
Jesus carrying his little lamb

quietly, across wide, pine planks,
worn with impressions of knees
of missing pious supplicants,
church mice scurry and starve

for there is no food in this place
not even a crumb of truth
scattered across the bare altar
now emptied of fragments of faith

and yet God listens, as always,
for the whisper of prayer
he waits to be gracious, in a place
where no one prays anymore

We all pray! Here, there, everywhere.....we all pray! And, God listens, he hear's us and he answers our prayers. Yes, we all pray and God listens. Never give up hope and always have faith.

God bless you,
Deborah

Indeed, yet the place of prayer is within ones heart.
However, here and in america i find the church full, where all shapes and sizes sit and kneel together. God is not in a box.

Top work sweet lady, xx

He is often to be most powerfully found in those places of former faith and brokenness, Belle; His Spirit never leaves and His grace is not withheld from those who honestly seek it. A sincere and clear-eyed presentation which inspires and elevates with its final declaration of belief and hope. xx

A blessing to read your poem *La Belle*
as it gives me a chance to say that my
church is in my heart where prayers are
inspired because they work for God's
perfect plan, as He is all knowing!!!!

CERTAINLY, IT DOES SEEM LIKE...NO ONE PRAYS THERE...I KNOW, THIS IS TRUE. BUT CONSIDER, LA BELL...WHEN YOU ARE THERE, YOU PRAY AND THERE ARE OTHERS LIKE YOU, THOUGH FEW, THAT PRAY IN SPITE OF BEING THE ONLY ONES THAT DO SO...THEY PRAY. THANK GOD FOR THEM, THANK GOD FOR THEIR PRAYERS THAT ARE HEARD AND THAT SUSTAIN THE GOOD WITH THE BAD...UNTIL HE COMES. I LOVED THIS WORK...ENTIRELY. WHEN I HAVE FINISHED SUBMITTING THIS COMMENT I WLL GO AND DOWNLOAD 'YOU RAISE ME UP' TO MY IPOD. GOD BLESS YOU AND THANK YOU FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Powerful words, Belle. You touched my heart and spirit while my eyes welled with tears of joy. A hauntingly, beautiful poem that resonates deeply in the soul.

LaBelle,
Beautiful work here, the cold silence of where used to be prayers and joy.

Many blessings,

So very sad, and probably why I do most of my praying out in God's Creation - what's left of it anyway - and that, too, is very sad to me.

Such an aptly melancholy poem, yes, as there are far too many gilded places of worship that no longer whisper with the Holy Spirit ~
always so sad to see!
Blessings,
Christine

This is beautiful, there are so many empty places of worship for sale....in wonderful spaces...broken for what ever reason. Enjoyed. Morgan

What is created by hand or soul for the love of God, is always beautiful as your prayer and poem, but time ravishes that created by the hand of Gods children, left is the memory of their effort, and the spirit of their soul. Hugs! Jasmin Horst

Belle, I know people don't believe like they use to...with more drageties happening everyday. It wasn't suppose to be like this...
Adam and Eve changed the course of what was to be.

Always,

LaBelle ... for me, a deeply touching piece of ekphrastic poetry revealing a kind of wisdom (given to the writer) that is not born of this earth. I have not wept in a long while reading someones work. I remember, at this moment, the joy of doing so. Prayer, for my family and me, is like breathing. No one will ever 'know' the God of all creation with finger-wagging, or futile human intelligence. This insight touches me deeply; a burnished metaphor for the love and light and compassion that the Most High Christ is, and has always been, and will always be. Praise His name! With respect ... richard

P.S. I shared this with my wife Michele. She was very moved and blessed also. She loved your imagery and the message and the sound byte.

Ah, no one prays anymore, my friend, because more and more people are trying to understand why such a wonderful God will allow very young children to be struck down with horrible diseases to suffer four or five years before they finally and graciously die. Mind you, I'm talking about innocent children, not sinners, many of them aren't old enough to even speak, they are sinless. I am in the midst of writing a book concerning this subject. I have tentatively named it, "God?"

I was always told that the church is not a building. But a congregation always seems to want a building, and a building that lasts, like a cathedral, seems to have some kind of better relevance for the faith.

I like stained glass as an art form. Otherwise, it makes no difference to me.
