Moon Dancers

on a cold winter’s night
in the silver moonlight
they dance in a meadow fair
to the tune of reed flutes
and big bongo drums
as the wind gently ruffles their hair

with every step so refined
each shinning one is inclined
to sing of their home in the wood
too tiny to spy among fallen leaves
darting like fireflies among the trees
as only magic wee people could

moon dancers rising over the lake
all the treasures of stardust to take
and the joys of earth to know
and when at last moonlight is gone
disappearing with the dawn
all wee dancers on the moon must go

I knew someone was watching us.
We need to be more careful and use a bit more fairy dust.
Though I'm glad that you enjoyed our secret moonlit dancing and have written so eloquently about us.

Absolutely delightful, and so beautifully written…
I shall stand in the Silver Moonlight and see if I
can spy or sense these ethereal and dainty moon dancers…

I like the one with the butterfly wings.
"Fly me to the moon, and let me play among the stars..."

Your moon dancers are quite a flight of fancy. Perhaps of dreams. But as I look out the cold window and see snowflakes dancing down, I could imagine such a winter world.

I can picture them, and next time there's a full moon I'm going to go out and see if I can see them. Too tiny to spy among fallen leaves? Oh, well. I can still see them in my imagination.

You never lose your magic.
Very grateful to dance with your words.
