"LISTEN TO THE RHYTHM OF THE FALLING RAIN"

Rain is drumming on the roof,
I listen to its metered beat,
It sounds like someone's dancing,
I find myself tapping my feet,

Lightning wants to show its stuff,
It flares with a bright cymbal crash,
Lightning doesn't mind if I
Steal just a little of her flash,

Thunder plays a little "Stomp!"
And I get up and stomp along,
Who is louder, it or me?
Thunder is, 'cause he's big and strong,

Now the wind wants to show off,
He wheezes a tune through his nose!
Can't stop laughing, then fall down,
Didn't think that's how the song goes,

Pretty soon, the storm moves on,
I'm worn out from all of the fun,
The best part of stormy days?
I get to do this with each one!

This poem makes me think of childhood storms on the beach, hiding under an overturned lifeguard boat from the lightening...such a wonderful memory imposed by you dear Karla...lifeguards rarely use boats like that anymore, now with jet skis and the like...too bad, and I am sure more than one of the "children" here at AD that have reviewed this poem, enjoyed it as much as I...Find Peace, Ed & Rufuz

I liked that old song, too, that went by the same title.

Your were stomping with thunder and stealing lightening, Karla!! Good for you for standing up to those storms that make you uneasy during tornado season!! I love this whimsical, welcoming tribute to celebrating a storm's lived combined with your own!!

You should have zapped that lightening with a bit of your own glowing soul-rays, love! ;)
