Dedicated with grateful respect and gratitude to SSgt. Wallate Fred Thibodeau, Vietnam Vet, KIA 19 July, 1969, and to his family.

REMEMBER ALL OF OUR VETERANS. PLEASE HONOR THEM AND KEEP THEM IN YOUR PRAYERS. THEY DID IT FOR YOU.

"FOR THE COUNTRY YOU LOVED" (REVISED, REPOST)
****************************************
You didn't run,
Even though you could have,
Because you were scared to death.
You didn't protest,
Because although you hated the thought of war,
You hated people disrespecting our nation and flag even more.
You went willingly,
And it devastated your family
And me.
Because you're gone now.
You are a name
Among many names
On the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall.
Panel 20 W,
Row 23,
Fourth name in from the left.
Gone from my life,
But never from my heart.
I miss you.
God, how I miss you, Buddy.
19 July, 1969.
Binh Dinh, Vietnam.
That's when our world came crashing down.
That's when you died.
You saved me.
You took the bullet that had my name on it.
I never got a chance to say, "Thank you."
You died a hero, man.
You died proud,
for the country you loved.

As a Veteran (non-combat), I bow to your mastery of the pen. You have said it for me - and for so many. May you have peace in your heart for all who have paid the final price. A prayer of understanding for those who cannot, or will not, see that we must fight or eventually be consumed by those who don't respect anything but conquest. - Bill

I salute you Karla - for your service (with the mighty pen) to the memory of Mr. Thibodeau and all soldiers who fight for our freedom and the freedom of people the world over.

Very timely write with Veteran's Day at hand!

A great tribute to a brave man.

Karla I cry an oceaa of tears for this beautiful remmebrance! Such a sacrifice can bring tears but also pride and thanks for having known such a person, and we should always celebrate what they give not because they were forced to but becasue they wanted to! ...As for what you said on my poet for peace post, I'm truly blown away! Believe me the tears I have now are making this hard to see so I hope there aren't too many mistakes, I just want to say that I think you are an amazing person a loyal and true friend and you have much courage! God bless you always! You didn't have to take a stand for me but you did and your splendid character shows! It has touched me more deeply than you can know!
