"TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING"
 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
'Twas the night before Thanksgiving, and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, except Mrs. Mouse.
She smelled turkey.  And dressing.  And...MMM...pumpkin pie!
She had to have a nibble, or she would just die!

Mrs. Mouse was hungry.  The doctor said, "NO SWEETS!"
O, CATS.  He'd never know.  It was time for a treat.
She snuck into the kitchen, on tiny mouse paws,
Praying she wouldn't meet up with Kitty Kat's claws.
~
When all of a sudden, there arose such a clatter,
Mrs. Mouse froze, wondering what was the matter.
Kitty Kat was there, and he was madder than mad!
When he got through with her, she'd feel badder than bad.
~
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?  YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED IN HERE!"
Kitty Kat bellowed, Mrs. Mouse trembled in fear.
'i just wanted some food, i'm so hungry,' she said,
'my kids are hungry, if we don't eat soon, we're dead!'
~
Kitty Kat could see that Mrs. Mouse told the truth.
She was far skinnier than she'd been in her youth.
And Kitty Kat was in a ben-ev-o-lent mood,
He would make sure Mrs. Mouse would get some good food.
~
He said, "IT'S THANKSGIVING, NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO STARVE!
GET OUT OF THE WAY AND WATCH THIS KITTY KAT CARVE!"

So he carved
and he sliced
and carved
 and sliced some more.

Soon, there was a pile of food all over the floor!

Kitty Kat called the Mouse Family:  "TIME TO EAT!"
Soon there was the pitter patter of small mouse feet.
They all sat around the food, thanked the Lord AND Kat,
And they nibbled and nibbled 'til they all felt fat.
~
Mrs. Mouse thanked Kitty Kat, he patted her head.
"NOW'S THE TIME FOR ALL MOUSIES TO GET INTO BED."
He tucked them all in, and purred to them a good night.
And in his journal, this is what Kitty Kat did write:

"THANKS BE TO GOD, FOR GOOD FOOD, FAMILY AND FRIENDS."
