I think we all have to question our talents and aabilities from time to time, if we didn't we would have to be mega egotists and I don't think that is why we do what we do...write. Acceptance of our work by our peers is almost more important then acceptance by the public.

You sound soooo like me, Karla... on the one hand, I need the encouragement and affirmation of others... on the other hand, it seems that no amount of "hearing" what others say makes me believe any more of myself than the little I already do... in other words, perhaps if we both have self-esteem issues, we need to believe more in ourselves before we can truly receive the gracious encouragement and kindness of others. Forgive me if I'm out of line here... I am talking to myself really - but seems you and me are quite alike in many ways. I can say here whatever it is I think and whatever it is you want to hear me say... but unless we start beleiving it from the INSIDE the doubts will still sway us. I am learning much about "poetic confidence" on my course... I started out with zero and I don't feel much has changed in my writing or in me to register any positive growth in that respect... yet others seem to detect a growth in "poetic confidence" which is starting to come through in my work. Don't claim to understand it, or see it myself, but just thought I'd share these few offered thoughts with you, if it helps, and hope you don't mind. AND, KARLA, WE ALL SEE YOU ARE GROWING!! AMAZINGLY!! By the way, the poem is spot on - guess I have just prayed for you, in a way, haven't I? Be well, Karla, and be poetic... how can you NOT be?! LOL Kate xx

Well I can be feel down and lonely, come on here, read poems by people the world over. And it's a real tonic. Having people giving wise advice, prayers, and friendship, even unsuspected love, and fun fun fun. If having those gifts bestowed makes one a fool, then it's great to be a fool.
