Went to a friend's relative's house; the relative has three sugar gliders (petaurus breviceps). Found mainly in Australia, Tasmania, Papua-New Guinea and Indonesia, they are marsupials; many people keep them as exotic pets. They should best be left in the wild...but I can see why people want to have them; they are adorable! For their tiny size, they are amazing creatures.
Male sugar gliders have a diamond on their foreheads; females, a stripe. This little guy wanted to say "Hello" and introduce himself to you. :)
A four-ounce wonder sounding like a car starting from inside a sock -
Who dares disturb him? He voices great displeasure until he sees food
on the outstretched hand of his owner. Taking a flying leap, he glides
straight into the heart of the one who is HIS pet and begins to eat.
Proffered snack over, he climbs into the safety of a shirt pocket
and goes off to sleep, dreaming sugar glider dreams of delicious treats.

I almost bought one of these at the Canton trades day, not too long ago, but then I decided that my cat would think it a mouse, so in an afterthought, I came to the conclusion and to save it from the horror, I didn't bring it home. I own a psycho kitty..and he has no restraints on what he will do.
I do however see me owning one of these precious creatures some day!
