Poem Artwork

Little scraps of paper
with the beginnings of great poetry
thrown away,
because the words aren't right.
Inner struggles revealed,
darkness scribbled on pieces of paper,
the mad
rantings of a stupid girl
who once thought she could change
the world with the power that was in verse ...
instead,
the words turn upon her and bite her back.
The pile grows until it
topples over and buries the poet
under
a mountain of trash which once gave her hope.

Gotta love Sage... wish I could tie a bouquet of her round me neck and sprinkle regularly whenever I'M having a stinker of a day!! She's got the right idea, I reckon, coupled with which there are many of us who would gladly be in line for a Karla phrase-and-thought transplant now and again! Instead of being the smallest pipsqueek around here, standing at 160cms, I would emerge the tallest if I had all of my rejects under me stockinged feet! Onwards and upwards with the rest of us... no mutiny in the ranks here! :)) Kate xx ... now standing at 215cms!!

It often happens that something you thought would give you hope turns out to be a disaster upon your life. And words are the worst killers if they turn against you. fantastic write

Lady K,

It is in these barren places when the rubble has grown beyond our height, that we find the stuff that makes us poets and we pen the words that spill from the mouth of the ages....

Karla,

How does one measure value? Not by monetary worth but by the passion of the heart.

Perhaps you should try going live from your mind, heart and soul directly to the computer, sometimes it is easier to create when you don't have to keep using new pieces of paper and also uses less trees. Seriouly though you are a long way from writing trash.

Awwwwww...don't I know what this is all about....I made a point of it to clean up once a week...and get rid of all the trash. Sometimes a line from each piece of paper makes great poetry...try that is works!!
Or at least it does when I run out of ideas...okay!!

Stay cool Girl!!

Well if the words are turning on you and biting you back, then lifeblood surges through your poetic veins through the vampire. Sprinkle the paper with garlic and pound a stake into the word coffin and rise again, my good friend POET. Karla, even words bleed and when they do, we simply tie a literary tourniquet around them, plug the puncture of verse, and then begin anew. Write on!

(((Karla)))

You are a good poet, don't ever think that you are NOT! Sometimes writers have a dry spell; but once your words are read, few people are NOT touched by what you have to say! I happen to love how you write, and I hope that more people can see what a brilliant poet you really are! GREAT write; well done!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :(

And so the history of poets' first drafts is filled with testimonies of the kind we happily read in TRASH. Hopefully you keep the waste basket somewhere nearby so that every now and then you can retrieve one of those discarded inspirations and reshape it into something worthwhile. Thanks for sharing another great write, and especially one to which so many can relate:-)
