lack of sleep due to nerves conjuring severe storms if only in my mind tv/computer/radio all turned to the weather this is no way to live
stormphobics quake shiver and shake
tornadoes/large hail/damaging winds along with flooding rain which we need but not all at once part and parcel of spring storms stalking the plains states
nowhere near here but still i fear
because it can happen with amazing suddenness the cap protecting us can rupture and then, katie bar the door and look for nonexistant shelter
must get inside nowhere to hide
nowheretogonowheretogo ohGodamigonnadie i don't want to go like this gone with the wind in a flash of light it's not up to me
God, get me through i'm begging you
if i had the money, i'd move somewhere where storms can't reach me but everywhere has their disaster their tragedies no place is safe that doesn't help me here
spring's a bummer come on, summer
no one understands they say i'm crazy maybe i am but being in four tornadoes has put the fear deep inside
it won't let go crazy, i know
i go through this every year and the older i get the terror gets worse please keep me in your prayers as i say a few of my own because i'm tired ... so tired
We are so blessed here. Occasional flooding, windstorms and mild earthquakes. A power so strong must make you feel helpless. And we think that we can control her. This is what must have put the grit in Plainsmen. My grandparents were victims of the dust bowl in Kansas in the '30's. Moved out here after selling their farm for pennies on the dollar. Double hardship with the Depression. I got a taste of what you're feeling when there was a Tornado Warning in Spokane, WA of all places. It was an anomolly. I brought my baby and the telephone into the walk-in closet, scared to death. Turned out to be nothing but very high winds. But I'll never forget that feeling. And the time Mount St. Helens blew while we lived there and waking up after a nap in the middle of the afternoon in darkness. My first thought--the end has come. Do feel your fear, Karla...
there's really no way to be comforted ... powerful storms are scary ... you can only hope they'll pass you by ... i can empathize with your concern, imagine living in NY where each day you wonder will today be the day we get nuked?
Energetic write and I understand your discomfort of the , for every time I went to look on the coastline, a hurricane seemed to turn up. So I decided to go to the Bay Area and got stranded in a mud slide. I still am heading back there because of its poetry scene but hope my words do not get buried. I will be in Austin in April from the 20th till the weekend, Austin’s International Poetry Festival. Hope to see both of you there. Good job!
Does it help to write this out

You and your sister must have a very strong and powerful connection to nature..Wow....Beautiful write..
I am not exactly fond of the weather here either; just glad we can be scared together! All we can do is pray and hope that God intervenes to calm the storms whenever they threaten! Good write; very well done! BRAVA!
Here's wishing you storm-free days ahead!

Ah, such blending of your fear, your person, and the storms, as well. You personify with seemingly no effort at all... adds depth to a really close peek at your 'reverse side.' (smile) Those insides do shake, don't they.
I'm in tornado country. We all have something. You share yourself with grace and revelation. Wonderful work. katy xox
Shades of Auntie EM...Chicken Little's "The Sky is Falling"...history of storms even in children's fables. It never ends. The nerves get frayed each time and we make it until the next time. You're welcome to head east...we have hurricanes and tornadoes.
I concur with Eileen below completely , Karla
This is a deep and profound fear that needs removing by the Grace of Almighty God !
I will pray for your release from this nightmare...:)

Karla it is a sad lament, and my heart goes out to you. The only thing I do if something is beyond my control is go before the throne of mercy and grace with strong conviction that it will help me and after a time of deep prayer, it always does. I will keep you in prayer and hope you find the help you need to combat your fear. This kind of fear is usually tied to more than just the weather. You should examine yourelf to see what the root cause is.Then pray about it and deal with it.
Love,
Eileen

Prayer sent, Karla. Can't do much here to calm you down. I am not one to fear the weather, but still, at time it scares the hell outta me. Remember last year? At least with a hurricane you have a cahnce to run. Many don't. I didn't last year, but may this coming season. Be safe.
