Don't always use my cane around the complex; depends on if it's a good day or bad. Accused of using the system, of wanting people to feel sorry for me.
Yelled at in front of neighbors; embarrased; how dare you kick a dog when they're already down? Words thrown smash me to the ground, adding to the pain I am in ...
...much hope and sadness...in the world of a cane...many stories to be told from its support...when things seem a bit down...if you can...just grab the cane...and keep walking.

Karla, What we all see is the small percentage of our society who have no love nor soul. The vast majority of us see you as not only our equal, but as gifted by God. Your words touch others much more than the nasty actions of the few touch you. You don't seek nor get our sympathy, you get our joy, our prayers and our respect.

The world very sadly contains many soul less human beings today, who don't even think twice about kicking a downed dog or even a fellow human being. I truly wonder where we went wrong, but ya can't let 'em get ya down.

Karla little do they know as they are putting you down, they are only showing their own disability, which tells us they are rude, ignorant and heartless, Just walk away dear one and try to smile and I pray that you have more days when you don't need to get about with the cane.

Feel sorry for the likes, they know no better, being full of such negative emotions has damaged them. Never let what other think destroy your peace of mind. Even in such an oppressive atmosphere you have the inner freedom of truth, never let social evils touch you, stay within the spring of peace, compassion and love
The cane should be use as a support and to hit the head of the accusing jerks that will one day protest that there are too many wheelchairs around.

I dont always use my leg braces either, and I have been accused of the same thing, but I remember Jesuses words turn the other cheek you are in my prayers, try and ignore the idiots who think they know it all, you are in my prayers.

Karla I pray you can learn to smile and say "God bless you", the next time someone puts you down. It's the best thing you can do for yourself and as the scripture says"put the onus on their backs" You can do it! Bless you. keep your self -esteem,and don't ever let them get the best of you.

Karla, having been on disability myself for 9 years, I can relate to the ignorance of others. Do you know how I deal with it? I tell myself that until they're in my shoes (and they will be, nobody stays disease or disabled free for their entire lifetime), then they know absolutely nothing of my illness. You have to be strong for YOU Karla!

People can be cruel, insensitive and unintelligent Karla, we can only take comfort in the fact that are disabilaties are physical ones and not the disability of ignorance.
It is hard to ignore those things that affect us deeply. It is probably more the spirit in the words than the words themselves that affect you. They get into us, they churn, we react, we cringe, we get angry and want to retaliate, we withdraw to protect ourselves - we are delicate creatures that misunderstand each other quite easily. Your sensitivities, dear Karla, are your greatest asset, and probably the most abused.

That's horrible, but I am not surprised it seems that our world is becoming less and less loving.
