It's not what you think!!!! LOL

Poem Artwork

... Winter wraps its chilly arms
around my trunk, stripping the
leaves I'd clothed myself with.

Suddenly naked as Eve.

Forcing its way past my lips,
it reaches into the depths of
me, neatly stopping the heart:

why I love Springtime.

Love the imagery and lush luxurious mesh of language in these lines. The stand-alone proclamation of "Suddenly naked as Eve" seems to me particular effective, stark, and powerful. Much gratitude for the sharing of this and all your very exceptional work,

For the same reason, I love springtime too, but fall is another matter. We have these huge century old oak trees surrounding our house and I'm the one that has to rake the leaves each fall--barrels of them. I enjoyed the image created with "Winter wraps its chilly arms around my trunk". I’m feeling that winter chill now as I write this review early in the morning after enjoying the vivid images and physical reaction to your poem.

If you haven't visited a nudist colony in the dead of winter, you may not fully appreciate the powerful imagery of "Suddenly Naked."

Oh, yes, I have! And I do.

Ha Ha. "It's not what you think!" Visiting any grove of deciduous trees in mid-January would qualify.

I do so love paybacks! You've made my day, Karla.

Rather nice, Karla. Spare and wintry, just like the season itself, but very intimate and evocative. Truly an arresting paeon (cardiac type) to the need for seasonal heat.
