Yes, for the self. Catharsis. Comfort. Company. If you took a shower and no one knew, would you not be cleaner? of course! We write because we must. We must learn to appreciate our audience --- of even one.
Karla, the words, the emotion will circulate in time and space until they land on the eyes or ears of another -- poetry never goes without completing its mission of sharing -- so of course, they were written -- set to paper by a caring soul with a compassion to relate -- I like this poem very much -- it stimulates thoughts on perception -- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael
If a reader finds
words on a page,
drawn from a kindred soul,
poured from
a driven heart, and
drinks of the tears
from the depths of empathy,
both souls have found
their own fulfillment.
In my opinion the words usually come from the heart
Once they are on paper and now a days the Internet, even if removed they always turn up from time to time
So in my thinking if they are turning up here and there one must have readers, wouldn't you think
But what do I know, I'm {Not a Poet} anyway :)

you occasionally regret it.
But much your work
that I've read is fine art.

A VERY GOOD THOUGHT PROVOKER. THE ABILITY TO WRITE POETRY IS A GIFT. AS A POET, YOU KNOW, AN INSPIRATION IS ALWAYS MEANT FIRST AND FOREMOST, FOR THE POET. WHETHER WE ARE DEFENDING, DECLARING, SUBSTANTIATING, BERATING, LOVING, PREACHING, CARING, SEEKING OR WHATEVER, THERE IS A MESSAGE THAT THE 'GIFT GIVER' IS PROCLAIMING THROUGH THE POET. SO THE ANSWER IS THIS; IN LIFE, 'MIRACLES' HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. AND FOR AN INDIVIDUAL TO BE ABLE TO 'HEAR' THE UNSPOKEN WORDS OF THE 'GIFT GIVER', PULL THOSE WORDS OUT OF THE AIR AND WRITE THEM, THIS IS NOTHING SHORT OF A MIRACLE. THE WRITER IS BLESSED TO ENJOY THAT WHICH FLOWS INTO HIM...THE GIFT WITHIN US 'KNOCKS' AND WE WRITE. THE WRITER IS THE RECIPIENT OF THE FIRST 'MIRACLE' OF THE 'MESSAGE', WHICH ENHANCES THE WRITER'S SOUL. NOW, IF OTHERS DON'T READ THE INSPIRATION, WOULD YOU SAY THAT THE WORDS WERE NEVER WRITTEN, WHEN INDEED ONE, AT LEAST, WAS BLESSED BY IT? CERTAINLY AS WRITERS, IT IS OUR DUTY TO SHARE THE BLESSING OF THE 'MIRACLES' WE BRING FORTH AND IT IS OUR HOPE AND PRAYER THAT MANY, MANY OTHERS WILL BE BLESSED AS WE WERE WHEN WE FIRST RECEIVED THE INSPIRATION BUT,THIS IS NOT GUARANTEED. IT IS NOT GUARANTEED THAT OTHERS WILL READ IT OR THAT WHAT BLESSED US WILL BLESS OTHERS. WE MUST KEEP IN MIND THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT THAT I HAVE TRIED TO BRING TO LIGHT...THE INSPIRATION WAS FIRST INTENDED FOR THE WRITER. SO THEN, IF A POEM IS NEVER READ, WERE THE WORDS EVER WRITTEN?
