A poignant and chilling write, Karla. I hope the words you write help to erase the pain you so obviously feel. Someone else wrote they agreed time does not heal all -- that is true -- what does heal is the love of those who surround you. Your sister sounds like the first person you can cling to ... and you probably cling to each other. You share a past that was filled with hurt but also a future filled with the love and support of each other and your friends. Remember to embrace that always.

Karen, my God! What a sad and lonely life you and your sister must have had. How terribly sad! Other than my novel, "The Climbing Boy,"
my other two novels, "Becoming" and soon to be published, "For Better or worse" are all grain of sand remembrances that I was able to build a semi-fictional story around, but, and I am forever thankful, that none of my "grain of sand" memories are as horrible yours.
