... going on my first 'real' stormchase next spring. ... =]

Poem Artwork

i hate storms.  when
they gather forces
overhead, with me as
their target, i panic and
turn a deeper shade
of chicken.

                                          i love storms.  when
                                          they dazzle my eyes
                                          with their power, i am
                                          humbled by greatness.
                                          and look - God signed
                                          one just for me!

i hate storms.  when
i hear of their destructive
side, and see the pain in
a survivor's eyes, i know:
been there.  i relive mine
all over again.

                                           i love storms.  when
one allows me to take its
                                           picture, i am thrilled.
                                           couldn't have done this
                                           six years ago.  the fear
                                           was too much.

                            going on my first "real"
                            stormchase next spring.
                            scared?  yes.  excited?
                              you bet.  if you can't
                           change the weather, look
at it through new eyes.  =]

I would love to go on a stormchase. I'm weird like that. Love inclement weather and such things. Don't see much here in California.

Never heard anybody of being a "deeper shade of chicken" and that description should be side by side with 1967 Procul Harum's "A whiter shade of pale" our Nam favorite at the time!
Girl...you know how to push the buttons of remembrance just with a couple of words.

Georg

PS, once you get that storm by the tail...whachagonnado?

Beware, Storm, she is on her way...and this time will not turn, "a deeper shade of chicken."

You go sis! Chase that tornado right out of Texas. A very well written experience of what it is like to be in a storm. I am fortunate that I live in an area that that hurricanes can't reach. But I do empathize with any victims of natural storms such as huricanes, tornados, earthquakes, mudslides, avalanches, forest fires and much more. Thank you for sharing your fears and your excitement.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie.

Karla,
What a wonderful way to make an analysis of storms!! Like everything else, it can be good or evil, depending upon the effects it causes. I love wild weather and often feel guilty for loving the fierceness of a storm that may have taken someone's home or loved one. wonderful poem!!
