Maybe it's a good thing I don't drink ...

Poem Artwork

... so need a life, more than
this:  get up, make the bed,
eat breakfast, plant butt in
front of the computer, hour
by hour, day after day of the
same old --- what?  before i
know it, the whole day has
been wasted and i go to bed,
only to wake up to do the
same old thing --- so need a
life, much more than this ...

Karla,
I feel the same way...I always tell myself no matter how bad it gets its always someone else worse than me. At least I have a roof over my head, heat to keep me warm, the Lord takes care of us. God bless you dear Karla.

Much love+

Getticus officus thy butticus. Go fishing, go treasure hunting at the thrift stores, make some brownies, take some new photos of something different from a different angle while on a walk, fly a kite, make a new friend.

As Dawn says get out and mingle. I go to visit the Seniors, they love it and it sure makes me feel good to see a smile on their faces.
Ihave been working on my Fundraisers for next year, there is always something to do. You have to find it Karla. I make sure there's a reason to get up each day.

Newfie Hugs are on the way, Rose

Try new things, meet new people...so much easier said than done sometimes, isn't it? Much of my time is taken up with work and things to do around the house and my daughters..and when there IS me time. I try to escape with a book...well expressed, Karla.

I know the feeling. This is when we have to get "act our way into the right thinking." Thinking our way out of it does no good. Gotta' move those feet. Get out. Try new things. Meet new people. Hobbeys, walking, running, local events, AA meetings?? Lots of cool people there for sure. Hang in there.

the prescrption for this rapidly spreading epidemic may be a friend that loves us enough to come over kick-ass us right out of that chair and set us in the direction of getting outside the part of our 'self' that is stuck in the mud mire of computeraddiction' and on to finding out some rewarding way of giving ourselves to something/someone in need...of whatever.

i put my desktop in the work shop...went to laptop thats easier to move from one inconvenient place to another (under bed/oven/bath closet)...what i leave handy is a tablet and pen in every room...come home from work and if the urge for voyuerism gets the best of me...find it and set a timer for 45 minutes. my heart/my body REALLY wants to be doing other things...riding/keeping up w/ old friends the 'old fashioned way'...voice to voice or a hand-written note. i try as hard as i can to avoid being sucked into the computer addiction which clenches a fist around our life squeezing everything else out in the same way as crack. i simply don't have room for one more weakness...'because i too so need a life' apart from the internet

Jeez! Everybody is on a downer today it seems. I have found the best cure for wasted days is to simply not waste them. If sitting in front of the computer all day is wasteful to you, get the hell up and do do something else, you aren't chained there. Get rid of your cablevision and subscribe to Netflick as I do and watch what you want to watch. Check the paper for local functions that might appeal to you. Make it happen instead of bitching about it. I am not trying to be rude, Karla, just realistic.

Karla,
We're all in the same boat more or less so I hear you loud and clear in this one...for me, the only real freedom and escape from monotony is inside my head, my own little madnesses and fantasies...and memories.

oooo... i feel this one, Karla. Trouble is, being such a contrary mortal, when I'm busy I long for the quiet moments that are not already answered for... then, when they come, I can't bear to feel aimless. But if either state becomes on-going, then that's tough. Doubtless there are countless ways you can constructively spend time with friends, neighbours and all just causes in your neighbourhood; but sometimes, too, downtime is a much-needed space for the over-tired mind and body to catch up with itself. If your body remains in movement, tell your mind this is just a phase and change the hands on your clock so that you do different activities at different times of the day... just a change of routine can help! :)) Excellent mood piece, this. Love, Kate xx

Start walking. Get the endorphins moving. Clear the brain. The aborigines know the power of a "walkabout". Any change will super-charge the synapses and you are a powerful person, Karla. You need physical activity...Love 'n luck, Lin

Hey...at times we all need to take stock of where we are and what we are doing. Perhaps it is time to do something else, volunteer work, finding a friend to meet for coffee, a paper route...know may sound silly but just using that as an example. There is a world past our computers but with the cold of winter we tend to all become passive and sedate enjoying the warmth of hearth and home.

Karla~

At least you're not drinking like you used to or getting into trouble. You are exercising your mind and using your hands; don't put yourself down! You need to learn to love yourself, just as I have to. It isn't easy, but with God's help, we can do it if we just learn to trust in Him! I am sorry you are so sad ...

Powerful display of emotions and conflict; well done!

(((HUGS))) and much love, and continuing prayers~

As always, your twin, Karen Lynn. :( X0X0X0X0X0X0X0X0
