Karla, your son is what he is because of your willingness to give him the chance. He IS a terrific person although you have much pain. But, Maybe it's time to let him go and let Karla have her life back again. We cannot go back in time, but even if we could, your decision was best for him AND FOR YOU! It's time to move on and become the best Karla you know.
Dearest Karla, please remember what it was like then, the circumstances that convinced you it would be better to let him be brought up by a loving couple who could care for all his needs. There are many who sacrifice in this same way to give their deeply loved child a better life.
God knew your pain then; He knows your longing now. Someday He may grant your heartfelt desire to meet your son; meantime, He is always with you to love you and to use your tender heart to touch the lives of others.
We cannot understand why God allows such suffering, but we can believe in His love for us and draw nearer to Him through our pain.

A touching write, Karla. I have a friend who faced this very pain. She met the baby who became a man...yes, the pain returned, but love was even stronger. They bonded well! A great write!

This is always such a terribly sad story: Children given to others to raise, usually, I would hope for the good of the child but this doesn't mean that there isn't a woman, that there isn't a mother that so yearns to see for herself the young man that child has grown to. I do hope, Karla, that this is but a poem and not what has come from out your life.
