The salt sea air puffs up from the sand,
inhaled by nostrils of long ago memory:
of blood, sweat and tears mingled with the sound of gulls. Or was it men,
crying out, 'I'm hit, I'm hit?' Hard to
tell. Pain and regret returns on the
waves, then slowly drifts away as the
Veteran remembers another beach.

Karla,the blood of men young and some not so young mingled with the water of the Atlantic that day - my uncle was there - he was one of the fortunate to return home after the horrors of many WWII bloody campaigns - I cannot begin to imagine the depth of the horror they faced - your reminder should help to make the events of that place on that day endure in the gratitude of all Americans - I wish you love and peace my dear friend - Jon Michael
