Ted, it is wise to pause before speaking or replying to another because we never know the circumstances we are about to face. If we blurt something out unthoughted, it could burst the bubble for both parties and both would be left feeling bad. A nice writing.

Discourse is a lovely word and conjures so much more appreciation and depth than mere "talking". We do well to both listen and speak in the light of well-considered words based on what has just been said to us, rather than blurt out our own blinkered thoughts in a constant stream as if the other person(s) had not already spoken. Giving pause is a very necessary part of discourse. I should apply these thoughts to my reviews, I am sure! :)) TY Kate xx
