I've heard over and over..."It's destiny," or better yet, "It's just my luck," but I believe we "make" our own luck, and that we hold the keys to how and what our lives turn out to be. Excellent writing.
Ted, we are the holders of the pathways we've made in our lives and what's behind the door where we live is what we've chose...no one else can be blamed. This is interesting and enjoyable.

Beautiful imagery. I brings to mind one of those classic novels with an unusual though captivating title, so that all through the story you are constantly flipping your thoughts back to the title. Absorbing, excellent.
