Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote this quote
I was reminded of his amazing fortitude
and his ability to collectively accomplish
so much in the way of equal rights and freedom.
On this day, that honors such a man,
I ponder this question:
How far have we actually come
since that day of his walk for freedom?
We should examine what he stood for,
what he was trying and did accomplish
in his lifetime.
We honor him today,
many people have this day off from work,
students have no school,
but does anyone really understand
what we are truly honoring?
Dr. King's vision included that of equality in:
voting, education, and criminal and economic justice.
We are forever faced with new challenges
everyday in continuing to fight to make
Dr. King's dream a reality.
It takes a whole country,
to complete this dream.
My hope is that Dr. King's Dream
will be a reality in my lifetime.
Author's Notes: Yes, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had a dream!
This dream shall be a reality. All must strive for equality at all times, no matter what!

Dear Amber,
One of the people I truly admire. Why do they seem to be so few and far between? Why is it so difficult to fulfill such a simple dream? Thank You for honouring the man and his dream.
An amazing man he was...I am moved to tears each time that I listen to his speech "I Have A Dream" it is a dream of many, but as your poem states, we must all work together...a powerful penning my friend, one filled with heart, soul, and inspiration...yes, we shall overcome!

What we still hear? those are the chains of poverty and bias, of covert rasism, of selective profiling.
We really hadn't come one step forward, on the contrary, we are going in full reverse!!!

Yes he did, and hopefully we can learn from that dream. We need to accept people of ALL races and nationalities and treat them with the respect they rightfully deserve!
