there is an air of mystery about her
I've a little intuition that she is hiding
saving something private all to herself
even though she offers me the beauty
and intimacy of her body in the night
I can sense all of her heart is not mine
sometimes when our eyes connect deeply
I can see a veil of secrecy fall over hers
I know I've lost her then for a moment
I hate lost moments, those locked doors
I wonder if she'll ever offer me the key

to ancient times, exotic shores and
there are no untold mysteries between
two lovers entwined in the moonlight
yet, I know I hold back my own key too
We all hold something back unless the trust is absolute and honest between the two. Unfortunately few ever find such a blessed union. I enjoyed this poem and identified with it.
A healthy admission at the end. But men and women are not alike and women, regardless of how they treat us, retain a certain part of themselves that we cannot reach that is woman and not for men to know.
