It took ten years to find the man
Alone on a deserted street
He knew me and away he ran
But he wasn’t all that fleet

No way would he escape me now
His time had finally come
Making good on my vow
As to vengeance I succumb

I caught him in an alleyway
Deserted dark and damp
I cut his heart out with my blade
Beneath a doorway lamp

Ten years ago he killed my heart
Killed my daughter in the park
Escaped from prison just last week
Now the cycle is complete

“Thou shall not kill” I heard God say
My soul now condemned to death
But hell’s not too great a price too pay
For avenging my daughter’s death

It’s true the world may judge me wrong
No better than the one now dead
But judgment just to God belongs
I remain my daughter’s loving dad
