My cheek crushed against his hand “Confess your sins the voice demands Who sent you here, are you a spy? Don’t resist, don’t try to lie!” I confess your meanings lost Please tell me why I pay this cost? Again the a blow crashes my head Many more and I’m surely dead What do you want with me? What must I say to be set free? This time the blows were low How much more can this pain grow? Then darkness surrounds my eyes No more sounds, no more cries Just silence and a numbness grows As from my lungs a last breath flows Copyright© Michael R Wood 2002
