Cry for the Land
A hunger ridden place
rotting flesh and deep eyes of despair
emaciated bodies of people
A sickened sea
of humanity before me
I am shocked
they tear at my heart
Unforgivable and Unforgettable
I hear the cry of the poor
the wailing, the stench
the sounds of pain
loneliness and rejection
They try to save lives but there are
too many
The world’s response may be too little and perhaps too late
Yet I know the world returns or remain in their everyday routines
so the loud cry of the poor grows silent...
I must go into the places of need,
neglect and abandonment,
to comfort those who are crying out in pain
What can I do, am I the only one?
What difference can I make?
Take heart, Don’t worry
You are too big with the little you offer
Trust in Him and place what your can
He will multiply it and make a difference
But He can’t use me unless I try
to be an instrument of peace in a land
where there is no rest for the weary
He works with me, in me, and through me.
