“Dawn,” you said to me, “you have trouble with relationships.” I repeated your claim to trusted advisor who stared incredulously, laughed and said, “Who doesn’t?”
You have covered a lot of time and emotion in such a nutshell-write, Dawn, and very lucidly and surgically, too. Like the objectivity in this highly subjective piece. Yeah, our own voices, one word from someone we love and whose opinions we esteem, can overwhelm us with either pleasure and pain, and we can become isolated and insulated with the preoccupation of our own thoughts and introspection. How good it is to realise that the rest of the world feels the things we can feel and can laugh or cry with us. Great use of both pathos and bathos here, Dawn, and love your alchemic imagery! Everyone has trouble with relationships at least at some point in their lives because no relationship is ever the same as another... sometimes for me it seems like I'm the only one going through certain things until I sit back and realize that there are other people in the world with similar and even worse problems... Hang in there, Dawn! :)

trouble is a definition of mankind, so join the club, dawn!
Poetry helps clarify who and what and where we are - better

It is so good to have trusted advisor, especially who can see the humor in us humans and doesn't hold back.
What is so cool for me is I'm in the most incredible relationship I have ever known...and we both said after we met again after some years, "Oh I'm in trouble now."
Trouble can be a very good thing!
