Oh, CJ, this funny story resonated with my own misunderstandings as a child, thanks mainly to my hard of hearing impairment.
As a 4 or 5 year old I recall sitting in front of our first TV circa 1958 or 59. A newscaster appeared and uttered what my hearing picked up as 'Gravy' I thought this was a greeting because he said it everytime I saw him on the box. So I started uttering the word whenever I greeted someone who came to the house - mainly adults. Never knew why they laughed. I did eventually. Memories.

Ha ha!! Exactly the thoughts we all had in our blissfully ignorant heads as kids. Never mind being intrigued about the problems of the pothole! Sweet :o)

Kids can only comprehend the language as it is placed before them, and that is why the English language and spoken word have create such mass confusion in our world.
Maybe we're just not expressing ourselves correctly or someones misunderstanding?
I think this write combines the adult reader as well as the child within them
