For my daughter Nina, my Lily of the Valley.
(Excerpt from my book "Lemonade Street")

Poem Artwork

Is it possible that I could love you more
If I gazed into your eyes
will my soul touch yours
If I breathed with the same rhythm
will we be one
Are you really of Him yet from me
Did He see you before He sent you
Did you know Him and touch Him
Did He do all that, then sent you still, to fill my womb
Did He see me that special to give His most perfect gift to
Did He know that I’d be so honored yet sin
by loving you this much
If that’s all true
I shouldn’t feel this guilty anymore
for in you, I see Him
So
When I look at you with such tenderness
Protect you with my life
Smile into your eyes
touch you gently
kiss you
I’m doing what is considered the impossible...
I’m kissing God!
