Here is a picture of my gorgeous friend Blossom, my favorite of all her pictures...They say a picture says a thousand words...I think she looks very beautiful!
Lying in wait
for a time
when all
would be just perfect
she--
afraid to breath
afraid to live--
Stands still
in a world where all else
is moving forward
many are her secrets
but she'll never show
she hides in folds
afraid to shine
to reach
to lean towards...
so,
she rests in wait, almost beautiful
like a flower unkissed by the sun.
(There are so many people who've put their lives on hold because of a stupid idea called fear)
I think at this point I'd like to take the pen of an editor and strike the word "Almost" from both the title of your poem and the description of your sweet friend Blossom for both are, indeed, fully beautiful.
(Yes, I took the time to read the review posting below of one named "Bee N (Reader), who identifies herself as "Blossom." I endorse one item: You both are very, very lucky. You have each other!
Hard to imagine a Lady like that "being able to hide"! I'm sort of a "weed by the wall" myself and it's to my career's detriment... "Almost Beautiful" IS... and so are you and your friend...Bloom baby, bloom!
Oh! that picture would be complete if she had let us see her eyes!
And as a friends come...you are a priceless one, which, with very few words, has said volumes...

Hi Y'all. My name's Blossom. Bernice called and asked me check my email. Then I saw this. I've been speechless. Thank you for all your kind words..really!
I've been very fortunate to have the cream of the crop as my friends. Besides the quality of her writing, she's a rare gem. Not a lot of women are that fortunate (to have girlfriends like her). She did explain that she'd written the poem b4 deciding to use my picture. I do find, however this poem really makes me examine myself. I'm thankful for having Bernice in my life. After reading this poem (and your comments) I (actually) whispered to myself- I'm lucky, very lucky.
Fear can be paralyzing. It is a constant struggle to put your fears behind you and go forth. You conquer one fear just to find a different one to take its place. And so the struggle continues and it is worth every moment of freedom found when the fear drowns. Excellent. Liz

Bernice you are so nice to write and to express your thoughts on your friend, it is often so hard for many to find their own beauty within this world of superficial ideas....your friend has to but read your poem and know she is loved...a beauty of a poem and ...beautiful friend...
Fear is a terrible thing yet most of us have it, your friend is beautiful and I wish she could just accept that and all life has to offer, she will in time.
You captured your friends essence very well between the photo and your descriptive prose. Yes fear can be a terrible hindrance to love and life but a certain amount of fear can also be good sometimes. We all face our own demons and sometimes time is the only cure.
...beautiful words...are not almost...but become the sun...you so wish would kiss a flower in the shade...color or moments...unknown her secrets...and why.
perhaps Blossom...will recognize the sun in your words...
